Events
During every season of the year, opportunities for a lively day out are offered within the peaceful setting of the Langhe Monferrato and Roero by fairs, fêtes, festivals and major events that attract thousands of visitors.

Spring
With the blossoming of spring Alba hosts Vinum, the unmissable rendezvous for lovers of wine tourism held in the town from April 25th to May 1st. Meanwhile, Savigliano proposes Quintessenza, an exhibition in May given over to spices and medicinal and aromatic herbs. Spring is also time for important cultural events: the Alba Film Festival and Corto in Bra are devoted to feature length and short movies respectively, while the end of spring is hailed in music by the Alba Music Festival, featuring classic sounds and musicians from all over the world.

Summer
The Langhe and Roero open up to musical tradition, folklore and good food & wine in a series of fairs and events: the Peach Fair and Optima Roero shows are held in Canale, in the heart of the Roero; cherries are celebrated in Dogliani, strawberries in Sommariva Perno and hazelnuts in Cortemilia. With the Sagra degli Antipasti (Festival of Hors d’oeuvres), Saluzzo proposes a combination of food, culture and folklore, and the town also promotes the important musical event Suoni dal Monviso, during which orchestras, chamber music societies, choirs, vocal groups and soloists perform in a concert tour from July to September.
History comes back to life In Canelli in June with the re-enactment of events associated with the siege that took place during the war between the Duchy of Mantua and the House of Savoy.
And Music is back wafting on the evening breeze when castles and chapels scattered over the hills host the second part of the Alba Music Festival, while August nights in the town of Acqui Terme are animated by Acqui in Jazz.

Autumn
With the arrival of September, once every two years Bra is taken over by the leading international event dedicated - as its name suggests - to quality Cheese. The same month also sees the holding of the Palio in Asti, when 21 horses race for the prized banner and a cast of one thousand two hundred parade through the town in mediaeval costume. Autumn in Asti also features the Douja d’Or National Wine Show and the Festival delle Sagre Astigiane (Festival of Asti Fairs).
Meanwhile, Savigliano hosts the International Bread Festival and the Madama la Piemonteisa Fair celebrating the Piedmontese breed of beef cattle.
In the Monferrato hills around Casale, the Festival of Wine and the Monferrato caters for events focusing on food & wine and farming culture, with tastings and concerts.
A curious and much-appreciated tasting formula is offered by the chance to combine food and wine with getting to know the local area by sampling the dishes of the culinary tradition of the Langhe and Roero paired with their fabulous wines while walking from one tasting location to another: Mangialonga in La Morra, da Cortile a Cortile (from courtyard to courtyard) in Bra, di Sorì in Sorì (from cru to cru) in Diano d'Alba, and Vijà through the streets of Guarene.
September thru November is given over to wines and white truffles, with the International White Truffle of Alba Fair providing a natural showcase for both in Alba. Linked to the fair are also a procession in period costume with the Re-enactment of mediaeval events, and the Palio degli Asini, which pokes fun at the horse race run during the siege of the town in the Middle Ages by its neighbours from Asti by replacing the horses with donkeys.
Food & wine also reign supreme at Acqui Terme with Acqui&Sapori and the Regional Truffle Show.
Then early in November the austere setting of Grinzane Cavour Castle (home to the Cavour Piedmontese Regional Enoteca) hosts the World White Truffle of Alba Auction, when the finest specimens of the season go under the hammer, with the proceeds from bids made by chefs and gourmets from all over the world (by satellite too) going to charity.
And the two most characteristic products of Casale Monferrato - truffles and a type of biscuit - are brought together in Krumiri & Tartufi.

Winter
With the onset of winter, Bra pays homage to the native Piedmontese breed of cattle with sumptuous tastings of mixed boiled beef and Bra sausage, which is made from veal and eaten raw, while Dogliani celebrates its typical chick-pea soup, “cisrà”.
The series of great collectors and antiques markets are held in Cherasco whatever the weather, and this well-known capital of snail-breeding also hosts the National Heliciculture Show.
Unmissable around Christmas are the Markets in Govone, the Living Nativity in Dogliani and the International Exhibition of Nativity Scenes in Acqui Terme.
